Important Closing Dates for Crop Insurance

Almonds - December 31
Insurable age is 7th leaf. Upon request, 5th and 6th leaf almonds may be insured by FCI-2 Agreement with 2 years of actual yield records.

 

Cherries – January 31
Dollar amount of insurance. Guarantee per unit is revenue not production. This is a pilot program in Stanislaus & San Joaquin Counties. Not available in Merced County.


Stonefruit (apricots, nectarines, peaches) – January 31
Processing cling peaches can have optional units by maturity group varieties. Growers may choose to insure any or all of the types of stonefruit insurable in the county, but they must insure all the acres in the county of the type or types elected on which they receive a share of the crop.


Grapes – January 31
Insurable by variety and price election is by grape variety.


Tomatoes – January 31
Must be grown on acreage under a contract executed with a

processor before August 20th.


Walnuts– January 31
Production is delivered in weight in pounds of dry, hulled, in shell walnuts.


Cotton– February 28
Cannot insure any acreage which has not been planted to a crop in one of the past 3 years. Cotton is insurable in Merced County - not in Stanislaus County.
